Slip in to Church and State before or after dinner for a luscious cocktail and truffle pairing this Valentines Day from 6-10 p.m.  After scouring the city for local artisan sweet bits, chef mixologist Tammy and I  stumbled onto J. Chocolatier in Georgetown.

Though not a secret to treasure hunters in the area, it was our first time.  After a wonderful afternoon of tasting, fingerlicking and spontaneous smiley outbursts, we are pleased to pair the following for your Valentine pleasure:

The Fleur de Sel Truffle: a lovely caramel  encased in dark chocolate, topped with sea salt
The Earl Grey Truffle: which has a deceptively hard shell rivaled by its forward blueberry flavor and fine tea finish
The Montezuma Truffle: a dark chocolate hiding a soft spicy chipotle center, dusted with cocoa
The Warm Clove Truffle: a sweet dome shaped bitter chocolate shell that reveals a moist genache and is dusted with 14k gold powder

In addition to the J. Chocs’ specialties, we found a Violet Petal encrusted truffle and a Carmelised Almond Brittle at Neuhaus in Union Station to round out our tasting journal.  Please join us, sip heaven and bite into even more!
